Chinese Cuisine Chef Wanted

Chef – Taiping Supermarket, Newmarket, Auckland

Employment Type: Full-time (minimum 30 hours per week)

All food is freshly prepared on-site using top-quality ingredients and is highly sought-after by our customers.

• Independently prepare and cook roast duck, soy chicken, BBQ pork, and other traditional Chinese deli items following authentic recipes and cooking methods;
• Prepare, season, and present a variety of cold and ready-to-eat Chinese dishes, ensuring appealing visual presentation and portion control;
• Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, taste, and appearance to meet customer expectations;
• Monitor ingredient inventory, plan daily production needs, and assist in placing orders when required;
• Minimize food waste through efficient preparation, storage, and rotation practices;
• Ensure full compliance with all food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene regulations at all times, including daily cleaning routines;
• Collaborate closely with team members to coordinate workflow and maintain smooth kitchen operations, especially during peak hours;
• Take initiative in improving kitchen processes and contribute ideas for new menu items or seasonal offerings.

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a Chinese kitchen, preferably with skills in roasting and deli-style cooking;
• Strong understanding of traditional Chinese roast meat preparation techniques;
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment;
• Good time management and attention to detail;
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety;
• Flexibility to work during supermarket operating hours;
• Food Safety Certificate is an advantage.
