Children's Community Nurse Specialist - Waitakere
Permanent, part time role available (0.6FTE, 48 hours per fortnight)

Opportunity to work in a community setting

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.

About the Role

Our Children's Community Nurse Specialists provide advanced nursing practice within an interdisciplinary team to promote safety, independence and self-care for whanau who have pepi/tamariki with complex health needs in the home.

In this role, you will be visiting tamariki and whanau in their homes to provide specialist nursing care within a case management model to support a variety of paediatric health areas including acute/chronic/complex medical cares, neonatal care and wound management.

Your ability to work autonomously in the community to advocate, consult and collaborate would be well utilised in this senior nursing role.

In return, we offer you a great opportunity to be a part of an area of specialised nursing practice and be supported in a full programme of orientation and supervision. You will have flexibility and autonomy in your work, as part of a small but supportive team of paediatric clinical nurse specialists who work across the full week Monday to Sunday so say good-bye to afternoon or night shifts.

About Us

The Children's Community Nurse Specialists are a part of a wider Community Child Health Team based at Waitakere Hospital. Our nursing team work together using a locality model to maintain consistency for families and support local knowledge of areas.

Home visiting is arranged from base with the coverage area stretching from the boarders of New Lynn/Green Bay across West Auckland through to Helensville. We have a shared boarder in Kaukapakapa with our north based team with whom we have close working relationships with.

About you

For this role, you will need to have:

a shared passion and commitment for whanau-centred care and cultural safety
a minimum of 5 years' experience in paediatric nursing (preferably in a NZ Health Care setting), including acute paediatrics
a PG Diploma in a specialty nursing practice (or working towards this)

a current APC and NZ drivers' licence

If you are ready for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a community setting, then this could be the opportunity for you.
