The role
As Business Unit Manager, you will:
- Lead negotiations and manage contracts from tender through completion.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and strategic objectives.
- Monitor and report on financial performance, implementing strategies to meet budgets.
- Identify and manage risks while improving efficiency, delivery, and dispute resolution.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing contract management team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Work closely with senior leaders to ensure cohesive project execution across the South Island.
- Establish, track, and report KPIs to support strategic decision-making.
About you
You have:
- Senior-level contract or business unit management experience in civil construction or infrastructure.
- Strong commercial skills with proven negotiation ability.
- Financial acumen, including budget management and reporting.
- Leadership and mentoring experience.
- Understanding of contract law, dispute resolution, and risk management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply industry compliance requirements.
- Tertiary qualification in civil engineering, construction management, law, or related discipline (preferred).
- Full NZ driver’s license.
- 50 hours per week, Monday–Friday.
- Regular travel within the South Island.
