About the Role

Ironhorse Incorporated is seeking an experienced and motivated Farm / Stock / Block Manager. This position can be tailored to experience with genuine progression to farm management. We require a keen ambitious person to oversee the day-to-day operations of approximately 460 ha effective of productive farmland across to blocks that are in close proximity to each other.

The property runs R1 and R2 heifers, bulls, and carryovers, and also winters cows and young stock.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the daily management of livestock, including animal health, feeding, and pasture rotations, as well as tractor work, fencing, and general farm maintenance. Developing the blocks to their full potential.

You’ll also assist with operations and machinery work across the wider business when required.

This role offers the opportunity to take Charge of a large-scale livestock operation across 2 blocks while being part of a progressive and supportive farming operation.

The available housing is ideally located half way between Riversdale (8min Drive) and Mandeville (4min drive). The major town Gore has all required necessities and supplies needed for farming and family and is only a 16min drive. If you have school age kids you will be zoned for Riversdale school a very nice small rural school that runs from year 0-8.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily management of livestock health, performance, and welfare
  • Feed budgeting, pasture management, and grazing rotations
  • Animal handling including drenching, vaccinating, weighing, and recording
  • Operation of farm machinery for cultivation, balage/hay Cartage, spraying, and rolling
  • Fencing – both repair and new build; post driving experience is an essential requirement
  • General farm maintenance, including water systems and infrastructure
  • Assist with wider Ironhorse Incorporated operations as needed
  • Record keeping, reporting, and participation in planning discussions
About You
Proven stock management experience (ideally R1/R2 finishing or dairy support systems)
Competent stockperson, with 1-2 working dogs ideally (must be safe on cattle)
Strong animal health knowledge and a good understanding of feed management
Fencing and post-driving skills are essential – ability to maintain and construct high-quality fences
Digger driving experience is advantageous but not essential
Confident operator on modern tractors and farm implements
Self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently while contributing to a team
Good communicator with attention to detail and a practical, can-do attitude
Fit, reliable, and safety-focused
Full NZ driver’s licence (Class 2 or 4 advantageous)

Must be a NZ citizen, resident, or hold a valid NZ work visa
