  • including working constructively with Ministers' Offices and managing issues in real time

  • by working across the public service with experts in their fields.About the role:The Head of Communications and Engagement is a member of the Organisational Enablement Leadership Team.
You will lead a small, capable team who operate across a wide scope of engagement and communications activities, including strategic stakeholder engagement, channels and digital, design, media and internal communications.This role drives the development of clear, purposeful, and accessible communication that supports the Ministry's objectives, strengthens regulatory stewardship, and helps New Zealanders understand the value of our work.You'll be operating within a complex and dynamic environment that requires the capacity to exercise flexibility and agility, juggle multiple tasks and develop and maintain effective relationships.You will:provide strategic advice to the Senior Leadership Teamidentify communication risks and opportunities across a complex and sensitive operating environmentensure consistent, high‑quality messaging internally and externallyhelp the organisation engage constructively with key partners across the public sector, business, and communitiesbuild a narrative that reflects our values, our purpose, and our commitment to public value.This is a role for someone who can operate at both strategic and practical levels; shaping long‑term communication approaches while being willing to roll up their sleeves and support delivery when needed.Please see the job description here
