We are seeking experienced Leading Hand Carpenters to join an industry-leading commercial construction company delivering high-quality projects across Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region.

About the Role
As a Leading Hand Carpenter, you will play a key role on site, working closely with Site Managers and Foremen to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard. You will lead by example, coordinating day-to-day carpentry activities with your team members.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise carpentry crews on commercial construction projects
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction drawings
- Ensure quality workmanship and compliance with NZ building standards
- Coordinate materials, tools, and site activities
- Promote and maintain a strong health & safety culture on site
- Mentor apprentices and carpenters, setting high performance standards
- Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Trade-qualified Carpenter (NZ qualification or equivalent)
- Proven experience as a Leading Hand or Senior Carpenter on commercial projects
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Solid understanding of commercial construction methods and sequencing
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong knowledge of health & safety requirements
- Full NZ driver's license
- Must have the right to work in New Zealand
