Join the expansion of Connings’ commercial kitchen operations

With our kitchen operations continuing to grow, we’re looking for an experienced and passionate Baker / Prep Chef to join our brand-new purpose-built kitchen at Connings.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing food production space where creativity, fresh ingredients, and quality are at the heart of everything we do. From artisan baking and café preparation through to fresh ready-made products and fermented goods, no two days are the same.

The Role
This is a full-time position, with rostered hours based on operational requirements and trading demand.

Weekend availability is essential, as we operate 7 days a week.

Working alongside our Kitchen Manager and close-knit kitchen team, you’ll help prepare and produce a wide range of products including:
  • Freshly baked breads and café products
  • Salads, sauces, and cabinet food
  • Prepared meal components
  • Fermented and preserved products such as sauerkraut
  • Seasonal products using fresh produce from our farm

You’ll play an important role in maintaining high production standards, consistency, presentation, and food safety across the kitchen.

About Connings

Our new kitchen sits alongside our market garden store and is surrounded by fresh fruit and vegetables—many harvested daily from the Connings farm just down the road.

This direct paddock-to-plate approach gives us access to exceptional ingredients and allows us to create fresh, high-quality products that reflect the Connings brand: authentic food, made well.

As our kitchen operations expand, this role offers the opportunity to grow alongside the business and contribute to the development of exciting new products and offerings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing, baking, cooking, and assembling high-quality food products
  • Following recipes, production plans, and portion guidelines
  • Supporting consistent food quality and presentation standards
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
  • Assisting with stock rotation, storage, and ingredient preparation
  • Working collaboratively within a small, highly engaged team
  • Adhering to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety requirements

About You

You’ll ideally have previous experience in a commercial kitchen, bakery, café kitchen, food production, or prep chef environment.

We’re looking for someone who:
  • Has strong baking and/or food preparation skills
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Takes pride in producing high-quality food
  • Is organised, reliable, and adaptable
  • Works well within a team and is willing to pitch in where needed
  • Has strong attention to detail and presentation
  • Brings a positive attitude and growth mindset
  • Values excellent customer experience and quality standards
