About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead site maintenance operations within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is accountable for equipment reliability, preventative maintenance execution, breakdown response, contractor management, and continuous improvement initiatives that maximise uptime, safety, quality and cost performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the maintenance team, including trades, apprentices and contractors, to deliver safe and reliable outcomes.
  • Provide strong people leadership, including performance management, coaching and capability development, and partner closely with People and Culture to support engagement, workforce planning, and compliant people practices.
  • Own and improve the preventative maintenance program to reduce unplanned downtime and extend asset life.
  • Drive a disciplined breakdown management process, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Manage critical utilities and services relevant to food manufacturing (for example refrigeration, steam, compressed air, water, HVAC).
  • Maintain compliance with GMP, HACCP, and relevant site standards, including audit readiness.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, spares, parts availability and supplier performance.
  • Administer and improve CMMS performance (work orders, scheduling, reporting, asset history and spares control).
  • Plan and deliver shutdowns, overhauls, and CAPEX projects, including commissioning and validation.
  • Partner with Production, QA, HSET and Supply Chain to align maintenance priorities with production plans and food safety requirements.
  • Ensure statutory inspections, calibrations, and regulatory obligations are met and documented.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through risk assessments, safe systems of work, isolation and permit-to-work compliance.
About You
  • Proven experience leading maintenance in food, beverage, FMCG or similar high-volume manufacturing.
  • Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical, or equivalent technical background (engineering qualifications highly regarded).
  • Strong working knowledge of reliability practices (preventative and predictive maintenance, RCA, condition monitoring).
  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors, shutdown planning, and project delivery.
  • Competent with CMMS systems and maintenance KPI reporting.
  • Sound understanding of WHS requirements, risk management, and food manufacturing hygiene expectations.
  • Strong leadership capability with a practical, hands-on approach and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across cross-functional teams.
