Driver Trainer - Northern Region
About the role
We’re after a Driver Trainer who can make a measurable difference — improving safety outcomes, lifting driving standards, and supporting professional growth across our Upper North Island operations. You’ll combine on-road assessments with targeted coaching to help drivers perform at their best.This role will suit someone with a passion for safety, a talent for coaching, and the drive to make every kilometre count.
What you’ll do- Conduct pre-employment, annual and post-incident driver assessments
- Deliver in-cab training and assessments for Classes 2–5 and Forklift Operators
- Provide licensing and endorsement training in line with NZTA, MITO and Connexis standards
- Coach drivers to improve safety, efficiency, and professionalism
- Deliver induction, vehicle familiarisation, and customer-specific training
- Maintain accurate training and assessment records using PeopleSafe
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance across operations
- Full, clean Class 5 NZ Driver Licence with I Endorsement
- WTRF + endorsement
- Current MITO Assessor Registration
- At least 5 years’ experience in professional driver training
- Solid working background in heavy haulage, ideally with agricultural or oversize equipment
- Strong knowledge of NZ road transport regulations and safety standards
- Excellent communication, coaching, and people skills
- Confident using Microsoft Office, EROAD, or similar systems
- High attention to detail and a practical, down-to-earth approach
