Support Worker - Nelson
HealthCare NZ is a leading provider of in-home and community-based health, rehabilitation, nursing, mental health and disability support. We are currently looking for creative, supportive and positive Support Workers to work within our Community Services for a specific male client based in Nelson.
Our client is a 32-year-old man who would like someone to help him get out and about in the community as well as provide personal cares and household management. Ideal candidate will be a pet lover, happy to support our client to attend his sporting events, is chatty and fun loving.Training will be provided, and commitment to the shifts is vital. You will have the ability to work one on one with our client, to ensure he lives the best life possible.
What does a Specialist Support Worker do?
You will help our clients to achieve their goals and reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support.
Responsibilities can vary, and you will follow a care plan, which may include some or all of the below:
- Meal preparation
- Community outings and integration
- Personal cares (showering, toileting etc.)
- Home management
- Earn competitive pay rates between $23.50 up to $29.10 per hour
- Variety of shifts available from Monday to Sunday
- Earn while you learn with free training towards NZQA Health and Wellbeing
- Work phone, along with other benefits i.e. discounted Southern Cross Health Insurance
- Job security with guaranteed hours and travel allowance
- Employee Assistance Program service anytime you need health and wellbeing support
- Attitude - a desire to help and support others, achieving excellence in all you do!
- Previous healthcare or caregiving experience is desirable, although not essential
- Excellent communication skills and flexibility to work alternative weekends.
- Healthcare qualifications are advantageous
- Most positions require a full NZ driver's licence and your own reliable transport
