The successful applicants must have experience in working in mental healthAbout the Team/Service/ LocationTe Awhina is a 12-bed inpatient unit for people over the age of 18. Based on the Whanganui Hospital campus, Te Awhina treats service users who are in the acute phase of their mental illness.In addition to the treatment offered, the service provides sensory modulation rooms, day activities and peer support.
The multi-disciplinary teamwork in partnership with service users and their family/whānau to support their recovery. We offer day activities where service users can express themselves creatively to help in their recovery journey.For more information on living and working in Whanganui click hereAbout youRequirements for this position are:NZ registration with a professional body and current Annual Practicing Certificate.The ability to demonstrate high levels of clinical knowledge in mental health disorders, psychiatric and addiction medications, and the management of risk.Practice based therapeutic modes of intervention in a person centred, family friendly, recovery model.Proven experience as a registered health professional in mental health and addiction clinical settings, adult addiction and co-existing problems in mental health is preferred.High levels of communication, customer relations and managing diversity skills, empathy and bi-cultural sensitivity.Competent computer skills in Microsoft word and ability to learn computer software packages quickly, a police clearance and current clean driver's license are also required.Working at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
