Cafeteria Manager – Looking for a food lover!
Location: Dunedin – St Hilda’s Collegiate School
- 30+ hours term time only – Permanent
Do you have a passion for food, leadership, and creating a positive workplace culture? St Hilda’s Collegiate School is looking for an energetic and experienced person to manage our cafeteria and ensure exceptional service and operations at our busy day school.
About the Role: As Cafeteria Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our onsite cafeteria, from planning menus and preparing meals to managing staff and student volunteers, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer service.While thinking autonomously, and showing initiative, you will be working closely with our Tolcarne Food Service Manager and wider Tolcarne team to deliver nutritious, well-balanced food options for teenage girls while fostering a warm, inclusive, and productive environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan, prepare and serve daily meals that cater to a variety of dietary needs (including vegetarian, vegan, gluten- and dairy-free)
- Manage ordering, receiving and inventory of food and supplies
- Monitor food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness in line with health and safety standards
- Supervise, train and roster cafeteria staff and volunteers
- Develop creative and cost-effective menus in collaboration with the Food Service Manager
- Maintain clear and regular communication with school staff and leadership
- Promote a positive, team-focused working culture
- Proven experience in hospitality or food service management
- An understanding of the nutritional needs of teenagers
- A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- The ability to multitask and work under pressure
- A creative flair for food presentation and menu development – that enhances the experience of healthy eating
- Flexibility to adapt to school schedules and special events
- A collaborative and respectful approach to team and customer interaction
