Mauri Kaha!About usThe Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Services (ARFPS), also known as the Mason Clinic, is the largest Forensic Mental Health Service in New Zealand.
Tane Whakapiripiri Unit is one of seven forensic mental health inpatient units that assesses, treats and assists in the rehabilitative recovery of people with mental illness or intellectual disability. Tane Whakapiripiri Unit is a 12 bed mixed gender Forensic Inpatient Minimum Secure Kaupapa Maori Unit.
Our Model of Care incorporates Te Tiriti o Waitangi Principles and built around Te Whare Tapa Wha (the four cornerstones of Maori health) incorporating Maori concepts and values that work alongside western approaches to psychiatric treatment.About the roleWe are recruiting a Mental Health Care Assistant to join our Tane Whakapiripiri team.
In this role, you will assist the Registered Nursing staff to provide delegated nursing care which is safe, respectful and individualised. You will be confident relating to, and dealing with people who can at times demonstrate difficult or challenging behaviours.
Therefore, having good verbal communication skills, being calm under pressure and demonstrating resilience is essential. We are interested in hearing from Mental Health Care Assistants, those who are keen and motivated to practice in a new subspecialty area, or those with existing forensic experience.
