Maintenance & Grounds Worker
Located at the beautiful northern end of the Abel Tasman National Park in the South Island of New Zealand lies Awaroa Lodge; a retreat nestled amongst untouched nature offering peace and tranquility.
The Lodge features a range of accommodation options including family rooms and architecturally designed suites built to maximize views over a protected wetland area. The lodge also offers a restaurant and bar, cosy lounge and library, outdoor pizzeria and a sunny conservatory ideal for a sunset dinner after a day spent exploring the local area.
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance & Grounds Worker to join our team at the Awaroa Lodge. This is a Full-Time fixed term position starting late September and finishing end of April with an opportunity to move to another hotel within the group at the end of the season.The position is a live in position with accommodation and food and internet provided at a cost, the position is well suited to someone who enjoys the outdoors.
Responsibilities:- Assist with landscaping, gardening, and groundskeeping tasks to maintain a pristine appearance throughout the Hotel.
- Liaise daily with the General Manager or Maintenance Manager as to completion of jobs carried out.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure all lodge facilities, buildings and grounds are in excellent condition.
- Comply with all safety and security policies according with Capstone standards, especially relating to customers properties.
- Safely handling and transporting luggage to and from their accommodation to designated areas, if necessary.
- Drive stock to and from designated areas.
- Assist with portering duties.
- Assist with the lodges incoming and outgoing freight.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to maintenance and facility management.
- Prior experience in Maintenance or Handywork
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Solid understanding of safety regulations and practices, ensuring compliance and a safe working environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with staff, suppliers, and guests.
