About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a qualified practitioner to join the Acute Social Work services and undertake a full-time (1.0 FTE) permanent position within Waikato Hospital.This position is in the Acute Medical Unit and Short Stay Assessment which is part of our Critical Care team.

About our ServiceOur Social Work team covers the Emergency Department, Critical Care, Medicine, Surgery, Women's Health, Paediatrics, Older Persons & Rehabilitation, Renal, Oncology and Community. Although our team works within a range of health services in hospital and community-based settings throughout the Waikato district, they report professionally to a manager within our Allied Health Service.

About youTo apply the following is required:Skills and experienceQualified, and at least 3 years’ experience as a social worker.NZ Registration as a social worker with the NZ Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB).Have a current NZ annual practising certificate.Hold a current NZ drivers’ licence. Competencies:Psycho-social assessment and intervention.Intimate partner violence screening, assessment and intervention.Child protection and vulnerable adult assessment and intervention.Ability to navigate access to a wide variety of resources and support services.A commitment to bicultural practice.Knowledge of the emotional and social impacts of changing health status.Crisis management and intervention skills.Case management skills.Advocacy skills.
