We are looking for One dedicated Cook to work in our busy takeaways.
About the business:
Haiyang Lucky Star Ltd is located at 267 East Tamaki Road, East Tamaki, Auckland. Our takeaway offers a comprehensive range of Chinese meals together with common takeaway fare such as fish and chips and burgers.
About the role:
The suitable candidates will join our great food service team and take responsibility for ensuring that all food is produced in an effective and timely manner. Candidates need to work from minimum of 30 hours to maximum of 40 hours per week between Monday to Sunday from 12:00pm to 10:00pm.Working more than 40 hours with additional hourly payment may be required, but overtime will be no more than 8 hours per week.
Reporting to the Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Inspect food ingredients and supplies to ensure freshness and quality before preparation.
- Operate and regulate temperatures of grills, ovens, fryers, and other cooking equipment.
- Prepare and cook food items according to standardized recipes and procedures.
- Season dishes appropriately during cooking to maintain flavor consistency.
- Portion, plate, and garnish food items, including adding sauces and toppings as required.
- Store food properly in refrigerators or freezers to maintain safety and quality.
- Adapt food preparation to accommodate special dietary requests (e.g., allergies, vegetarian options).
- Assist in menu planning and estimating daily food requirements as needed.
- Help train and guide junior kitchen staff or apprentices in cooking techniques and safety practices.
Pay
We offer a considerable pay rate between $29/hour – $32/hour for ordinary working hours and a higher pay rate for overtime, depending on your skills and performance.
Qualification and Experience:
NZ Certificate L4 or higher, or 2 years of relevant experience
