About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our vibrant, innovative and friendly team. Working in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, we have the privilege of being able to develop innovative new ways of looking after our diverse population.

About the Team/Service/Location

Hauora a Toi Bay of Plentys Maternal, Infant, Child, Adolescent Mental Health Service (MICAMHS) has a track record of innovation, clinical achievement, academic success and high performance.

The MICAMHS service consists out of PIMHS (perinatal and infant (ages 0
  • 5) mental health), a child team in Tauranga (ages 5
  • 12), youth team in Tauranga (ages 13
  • 18), Voyagers in Whakatane (ages 0
  • 18) and Incredible Years Specialist Services (IYSS).
Our Child Health Integrated Response pathway (CHIRP) is an integrated pathway for children with neurodevelopmental, mental health and behavioural concerns. We work alongside our Paediatric department, Child development team, School based Mental Health Teams and MICAMHS services to achieve shorter wait times, and collaborative assessments and interventions for young people referred with these concerns.

CHIRP has been recognised internationally in the Improvement and Innovation space. In our other teams we are establishing a trauma informed care approach according to international guidelines.

This is a permanent 0.6FTE position, however the FTE can be negotiable for the right candidate.

About You

Criteria for this position:

  • You need to be a Vocationally Registered Psychiatrist with the Medical Council of NZ or be eligible for this.
  • Have fellowship with the RANZCP or the equivalent is essential.
