About the Role

We are seeking a full-time, permanent Pig Specialist to join our farm near Maramarua. The successful candidate will have a minimum of one year’s experience working with pigs in an intensive/indoor production system.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Farm Manager, your primary duties will include:
  • Demonstrating best practices in animal handling, health, and welfare
  • Moving, drafting, and weighing pigs while ensuring accurate records are maintained
  • Performing health checks, providing appropriate nutrition, and administering treatments
  • Managing the daily care of pigs to ensure their comfort and well-being
  • Documenting animal movements, breeding statistics, and health reports

About You

The ideal candidate will:
  • minimum of one year’s experience working with pigs in an intensive/indoor production system
  • Possess strong written and numerical skills for accurate data recording
  • Be able to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively collaborate within a team
  • Maintain physical fitness to meet the demands of the role
  • Have a proactive approach to animal welfare and a strong attention to detail
  • Hold a valid Drivers Licence

  • Remuneration based on experience in the pig industry, ranging from $20 to $30 per hour
  • Work hours will vary between 32 to 60 hours per week, on a rotating roster that includes weekends and public holidays
