Your new role:
As Head of Finance & Business Services, you will act as trusted and strategic advisor to the Chief Executive, Board, and Executive Leadership Team.
This is a pivotal role at the heart of the organisation, providing strategic leadership across finance, planning and performance, procurement, risk and assurance, data and reporting, and facilities. You play a critical role in strengthening the EPA's financial sustainability, organisational resilience, and performance insight in a complex and evolving public sector environment.
Responsibilities:
- Providing integrated financial, performance and risk insight to support strategic prioritisation, investment and delivery decisions
- Leading medium to long-term financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting and business planning
- Ensuring strong financial governance, controls, audit and assurance arrangements and strong enterprise risk management
- Leading planning, performance and accountability processes, including Statements of Intent and Annual Reports
- Ensuring finance, procurement, facilities, risk and assurance, and business services are efficient, customer-focussed and fit for the future
Requirements:
We're looking for a senior leader who combines strong financial expertise, with system thinking, sound judgement, and collaborative leadership style.
You will bring:
- Significant senior leadership experience in finance, corporate services or related functions, ideally within the public sector or a complex regulatory environment
- Proven experience advising executives, Boards and Audit & Risk Committees
- Deep understanding of public sector finance, Crown accountability and value for money expectations
- Strong experience leading organisational planning, performance improvement and change
- The ability to engage, influence and build trusted relationships across central agencies and senior stakeholders
- A strategic, resilient and values-based leadership approach
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to convey complex issues clearly
- Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification
