About the Role
As Project Engineer, you'll lead the design, delivery, and management of capital and maintenance projects. You'll work closely with internal teams, contractors, and customers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards. In this role you will:
- Complete detailed design and engineering for assigned projects
- Manage tenders, contracts, budgets, and financial reporting
- Coordinate with internal delivery teams and external specialists
- Apply Safety-by-Design principles throughout all project stages
- Support continuous improvement of engineering standards and processes
- Build positive relationships across teams, contractors, and customers
You'll bring a mix of technical competency, practical project experience, and strong interpersonal skills. You stay calm under pressure, communicate well, and enjoy working collaboratively. You'll ideally have:
- 5+ years in the electricity distribution, transmission, or generation sector
- Proven electrical design and project management experience
- Knowledge of industry rules, regulations, and safe work practices
- Experience with estimating, tendering, and contractor management
- A commitment to safety and quality
- EWRB registration or Engineers NZ membership (advantageous)
