About the role - Cook

As part of this role, the Cook will prepare and cook food items to ensure the highest quality service and
experience

for customers

As a Cook, you will be expected to perform a variety of tasks to the highest standards, including but not limited to the following:

  • Provide fast and efficient service to minimise wait times for customers.
  • Ensure food preparation and presentation meet the restaurant's established standards and specifications.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels to ensure continuous kitchen operations.
  • Minimise food wastage through careful planning and portion control.
  • Prepare food in advance where possible, ensuring proper preservation or freezing procedures are followed.
  • Customise food preparation and recipes to accommodate customer preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Identify and address any potential hazards, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Adhere to hygiene and safety regulations in line with New Zealand health and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and equipment to meet high standards.
  • Report any incidents or concerns promptly to the Manager.
  • Follow standard cooking procedures, seeking approval from the Head Chef for any necessary modifications to recipes or methods.
  • Provide guidance and demonstrate cooking techniques to other team members, as directed by the Head Chef.
  • Undertake additional tasks as reasonably requested by the Supervisor to support the efficient operation of the kitchen.
Qualification, Experience and Attributes Required
  • Level 4 or higher qualification in the similar field or at least 2 years experience as a Cook is required
  • Excellent food hygiene practices.
  • High standard of personal hygiene and presentation. Ability to thrive in a small, high-paced, and high-volume environment.
  • Punctual, organised, and capable of multitasking with attention to detail.
  • Team player with effective communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Full time permanent employment.
  • Minimum of 30 hours/week guaranteed.
  • Pay rate ranges between $25 to $27/hour.
