Cook/Nutritionist- Educare Pukete
We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic Cook/Nutritionist who is passionate about providing nutritious meals for the hungry young bellies at our Early Learning Centre located in Pukete, Hamilton. We believe that happy bellies create happy tamariki!
This role is part-time working 25 hours per week, 8.00 am - 1.30 pm Monday to Friday.Note that hours and days are not negotiable. Pay rate will depend on relevant experience and qualifications.
About You - Mou
A multi-tasker, with excellent time-management skills and friendly personality. Preparing morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for the tamariki on a daily basis does not phase you. You are quite happy to have baking on the go at the same time that lunch is being made and can keep your kitchen organised and tidy while getting the food prepared to set timelines.
As our Cook/Nutritionist you contribute to the quality of our childcare centre by ensuring smooth and efficient management of the kitchen, and providing quality food service, offering tasty, nutritious and hygienically cooked meals that meet the tamariki nutritional needs.
An understanding and willingness to learn the ECE food requirements is essential, as is knowledge of food hygiene practises. Previous working experience in a kitchen environment is preferable (commercial kitchen experience is a bonus) and Food Safety qualifications are desirable.
Great communication skills and the ability to take feedback are crucial in our collaborative environment. We value trusting relationships and open communication.
About the Role - Korero mo te Turanga
Create and serve nutritious meals, in a timely, hygienic and attractive manner to the harshest of critics.
You will be responsible for purchasing appropriate ingredients and ensuring sufficient stocks are on hand as required for any unusual requests from tamariki, or to accommodate for food allergies or dietary needs. At all times you must be committed to the highest standards of cleanliness, and adhering to our policies and procedures
This role ensures that all menus contain the appropriate nutritional value and that special diets are catered for. An understanding of children’s nutritional needs and the ability to cater for dietary/allergy requirements is essential for this role, as well as being capable of keeping within budget and ordering supplies.
You will be setting up kai time (and tea parties, of course) and cleaning tables, chairs and floors after each meal. Must be able to work with a watching audience and accept feedback from small critics.
