Spray Operator and General Orchard Hand

Are you hands-on, reliable, and ready to work outdoors in a team that values growth, integrity, and collaboration? McLean Orchards is looking for a motivated and adaptable Spray Operator & General Orchard Hand to join us for the upcoming spray season.
This is a fixed-term role that will involve a wide range of orchard tasks—not just spraying. We're looking for someone who is practical, can work independently, communicates well, and is willing to support our team during the peak season.
What You’ll Be Doing:- Operating spray equipment safely and efficiently (tractor & sprayer)
- Assisting with general orchard work including pruning, thinning, and other seasonal tasks
- Supporting thinning supervisors during the thinning season—good communication and basic numeracy are essential
- Monitoring and maintaining spray gear to ensure safety and reliability
- Following all health and safety protocols
- General tractor-driving experience is beneficial
- Spraying experience is preferred but not required—we’re happy to train the right person
- Growsafe certification is an advantage; however, the key is a willingness to complete the training
- Mechanically minded with attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, and work unsupervised
- Flexible and able to work extra hours during busy periods if required
- Good communicator with a positive, team-focused attitude
- A full, clean driver’s licence is required
- Applicants must be New Zealand residents or citizens
- Pay will reflect experience and relevant qualifications
