About the Role
As a Health Care Assistant in our Relief Team, youll provide essential support across multiple clinical areas, ensuring patients and whanau receive safe, compassionate care. This is a varied and dynamic role where youll assist nursing teams with delegated clinical tasks, help maintain patient comfort, and provide technical and clerical support to keep services running smoothly.
Youll work closely with Registered Nurses and other health professionals, contributing to a positive patient experience and supporting the delivery of highquality care. If you enjoy working in a fastpaced environment, adapting to different teams, and making a real difference every day, this role offers plenty of variety and purpose.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Relief Team is part of the Integrated Operations Centre at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital. This team provides flexible support across wards and services, ensuring continuity of care and operational efficiency. Youll join a collaborative, supportive group that values teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to patient safety.

About you
Youll be a caring, reliable and adaptable team member who enjoys supporting others and working in a variety of clinical settings. You will bring:
- New Zealand Certificate in Health Wellbeing (Level 3) Health Assistance, or commitment to complete this within two months of starting.
- Ability to follow direction and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with sensitivity to patient needs.
- Basic computer and telephone skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Physical fitness and ability to meet the roles physical requirements.
- A commitment to cultural safety and confidence engaging respectfully with Maori whanau.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of ECA (patient management system).
- An enthusiastic, proactive attitude and willingness to adapt in a changing environment.
