Operations Manager, Adrenalin Forest Auckland

Are you an enthusiastic and reliable leader with a passion for the outdoors and a knack for managing both people and operations? Adrenalin Forest, a well-established adventure company, is seeking a motivated Operations Manager to lead our Auckland park.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work amongst the trees, in the fresh air, and be a part of an exciting team dedicated to delivering unforgettable adventure experiences.

Start Date: late August/start of September – There is also the possibility to start earlier in one of our other parks (Christchurch, Wellington or the Bay of Plenty) to train and work before moving to Auckland to start this position.

About the Role:

As our Operations Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our park’s success, ensuring the smooth and safe daily operation of our high ropes course. You’ll wear many hats, from leading our dedicated team to fostering positive relationships within the local community.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Park Management & Safety: Oversee all daily operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance with our Risk Management Plan and AdventureMark Audit Standards. Perform client retrievals and rescues via rope access when necessary

  • Maintenance & Equipment: Conduct regular course maintenance, gear monitoring, and inspections to uphold safety and operational excellence.
  • Community Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local tourism organizations (i-sites, tour operators), community groups (archery clubs, city councils, chambers of commerce), and partners. This will include some off-site networking.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage bookings, handle cash, maintain accurate records, process invoices, and manage office supplies. Respond to phone calls and emails promptly.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to the Managing Director or National Operations Manager.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking a proactive and adaptable individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to safety and customer satisfaction.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • People Skills: A friendly, outgoing personality with a genuine love for working with people and a high standard of customer service.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong rock climbing or caving experience, demonstrating excellent climbing technique and rope knowledge.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience in managing and maintaining a similar outdoor adventure operation is a significant advantage.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, clients, and partners.
  • Organizational Skills: Meticulous attention to detail, capable of maintaining clear, accurate, and up-to-date records.
  • Adaptability: The tourism industry can be unpredictable. You must be flexible with working hours and duties, adapting to fluctuating demands and working weekends as required (with days off managed between the Manager and Lead Instructor).
  • Professionalism: A high level of personal presentation and hygiene, coupled with honesty, trustworthiness, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Computer Literacy: Good general computer skills.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • First Aid: A current First Aid Certificate is essential. If you do not have one upon commencement, you will be required to obtain it at your own expense in the shortest possible time. Adrenalin Forest Ltd. will cover the cost of maintaining its currency thereafter.
