Painters/Plasters

An established property painting business in Auckland is looking for painters/plasters .

• At least two years’ relevant experience OR level 4 qualification in related field
• Proven having attention to details
• Proven trustworthiness
• Willingness to follow instructions

• Painting residential properties using brush, roll, and spray
• Applying and pealing wallpapers
• Erecting and dismantling temporary scaffolding (under 5 meters in height)
• Removing and installing doors, handles, curtains, and other hardware
• preparing surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper, fixing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing and sealing surfaces v
• selecting and preparing paints to required colours by mixing portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying additives
• Applying paints, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and sprays
• hanging wallpaper, matching patterns and trimming edges, cleaning equipment and work areas
• may repair windows and replace glass in wooden and metal frames
• may lay and repair wall and floor tiles
• determining plasterboard layout, and installing insulation and vapour barriers v
• measuring, marking and cutting plasterboard, lifting and positioning panels, and securing them to walls, ceilings and battens
• preparing corner beads and securing them in position
• fixing pre-cast cornices, panel mouldings, ceiling centres and other plaster fittings
• covering joins and nail holes with wet plaster and sealing compounds, and smoothing them using wet brushes and sandpaper
• mixing and applying coats of plaster, cement and render to structures using trowels, and levelling and smoothing coats to uniform thickness
• plumbing and straightening corners, angles and wall and ceiling surfaces
• creating decorative textures in finishing coats
• applying and finishing acoustic, insulating and fireproofing materials bonded with plaster, plastic cement and similar materials
• Other adhoc duties depending on experience and skills

• Full-time permanent employment, at least 30 hours/week
• Minimum wage $24/hour
• Maximum wage $30/hour (depending on experience and performance review)
