Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager - Invercargill

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Manager to join our team and lead initiatives that foster a culture of care, compliance, and continuous improvement.
About the role
As the HSW Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing and leading strategies to ensure a safe, supportive, and compliant working environment across all VetSouth clinics. This is a key leadership role, working closely with clinical and operational teams to champion safety practices, manage risk, and promote physical and mental wellbeing.
You’ll have oversight of our HSW policies and programs, drive risk assessments, coordinate wellbeing initiatives, and support training and audits—all tailored to the unique demands of veterinary practice
What you’ll be doingLead HSW strategy and foster a strong culture of safety and wellbeing across all clinics.
Manage and improve HSW policies, ensuring alignment with industry standards and legislative requirements.
Conduct regular risk assessments and support incident investigation and follow-up.
Develop and champion wellbeing programs, with a focus on frontline veterinarians.
Oversee HSW training, resources, and compliance audits.
Analyse incident data and HSW trends, providing reports and actionable insights.
Empower local leaders to take ownership of HSW in their teams.
Collaborate with Comhla group HSW leads to share learnings and enhance consistency.
What you’ll bringA relevant qualification (minimum Graduate Diploma; Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is a plus).
5+ years’ experience in health, safety, and wellbeing management, ideally within a healthcare or veterinary setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead across diverse teams.
Knowledge of health and safety practices in the primary sector or multi-site organisations.
Confidence working in complex or national group settings.
A personable, proactive, and resilient approach to workplace wellbeing.
Excellent organisation, time management, and problem-solving skills.
