About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Industrial Electrician or Electrical Technician to join our Dunedin branch. This is a dynamic, site-focused role that spans multiple disciplines, including electrical installation, maintenance, automation, and instrumentation.
You’ll be required to travel and work on-site across the South Island, often within demanding industrial environments. The role offers hands-on variety and the opportunity to build advanced skills in electrical design and automation technologies.
This is a permanent position offering long-term development for the right candidate, with a competitive remuneration package based on experience.
Key Responsibilities- Perform industrial electrical work, including installation, maintenance, and fault finding
- Interpret and work from wiring diagrams, PLC I/O, and instrumentation drawings
- Troubleshoot and maintain motor control systems, including VSDs and soft starters
- Assist with PLC/HMI interrogation and automation support
- Complete risk assessments, Certificates of Compliance (COCs), and safety documentation
- Represent NZ Electrical Solutions professionally and maintain strong client relationships
- Mentor apprentices and contribute to a positive team environment
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and workmanship at all times
- NZ Electrical Registration and current Practicing Licence
- Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Commitment to continuous learning and development
- Willingness to travel and work away from home as required
- Interest in developing skills in automation and industrial control systems
- Strong fault-finding ability on various OEM equipment
- Experience with PLCs (interrogation or programming exposure)
- Solid understanding of motor control – VSDs, soft starters, DOL
- Familiarity with industrial instrumentation and process control
- Experience drafting electrical drawings using EPLAN
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience
