We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for, and with Māori. This includes our mandate to promote Māori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles.
Based in Pōneke Wellington, our Policy Puni leads across the public sector to understand and prioritise issues, needs and opportunities impacting on Māori development and wellbeing. The Puni consists of 8 teams focusing on specific Policy areas.
Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunityThe Te Pae Tawhiti team's role is to provide system leadership in driving a cross-government approach to matters relating to the appropriate use of mātauranga Māori. This includes the development and stewardship of policy on cultural and intellectual property relating to mātauranga Māori, both domestically and international.
To be successful in this role, you will be expected to: Have a high level of technical knowledge and expertise relevant to specific policy areas Lead policy and operational advice within your area of expertise or skill set; Be experienced in applying kaupapa Māori approaches to your mahi; Use your knowledge to influence outcomes at the highest level across Government and in communities.
The likely appointment range for this role is between $123,317(90%) and $137,018 (100%) per annum. The full salary range of the grade is $123,317(90%) and $164,423 (120%) Ko wai koe | About youThis opportunity is a good fit for someone with strong communication, relationship management and influencing skills, along with highly developed skills and proven experience in cross-government approaches.
You will have extensive experience working on complex policy matters and leading the design and development of policy advice to Ministers. You could come from a range of policy backgrounds but what is most important is that you are comfortable coming up to speed quickly with new issues.
