Part-time stock manager, dairy support farm

ABOUT USWe are a 180ha dryland dairy support business, 10 minutes north of Geraldine.
We run dairy heifers year round and winter cows on crop, with occasional sheep grazing. It is a high-performing farm on flat land with well-established farming policies.
The farm is busy over winter and quieter in spring/summer/autumn. We use contractors for most cultivation.
The owners have off-farm employment but live on farm and will continue to manage the operation.
ABOUT THE JOB
You will carry out all day-to-day aspects of the farm operation, working independently but liaising closely with the owners.
Your duties will include:- break feeding pasture and winter feed crops
- assisting with carrying out animal health programmes alongside our dairy clients
- shifting stock and yard work
- farm maintenance
- tractor work, including basic cultivation and making baleage
- carrying out general duties encompassing all aspects of running the farm.
ABOUT YOU
You are a motivated and capable person. You are honest, reliable, take pride in your work, and have:- experience with livestock farming and a high level of stockmanship
- pasture management knowledge and skill
- experience operating tractors and machinery
- a good range of general farming skills
- 1–2 working dogs under good command, if possible
- a current Full NZ Driver’s licence – a class 4 or 5 licence is an advantage but not essential
- an ability to work independently
- excellent communication and organisation skills
- a good level of fitness.
Remuneration will be based on your ability and experience.
Part-time on hourly rate – hours will vary season to season. Minimum hours will be discussed and agreed in the contract.
A warm, tidy 3-bedroom house is available on farm if required.
Start mid–late January 2025 – possibility to start earlier.
