We're on the lookout for a trade-certified Fitter Turner to join a highly capable maintenance team in Southland. This is a role suited to someone with a strong background in mechanical fitting and machining—especially in industrial or manufacturing environments where diagnosing faults and solving problems fast is part of the job.
You'll be working in a large-scale operation with heavy-duty gear. It's a dusty, physically demanding environment, so experience matters. You'll need to be calm under pressure, reliable on the tools, and someone who thrives in a solid team culture where everyone does their part.
What You'll Be Doing- Carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance across industrial machinery
- Diagnosing faults and repairing equipment efficiently and safely
- Operating lathes, mills, and general workshop tools to machine or modify parts
- Welding, cutting, and fabricating when needed
- Working closely with fellow fitters, production staff, and supervisors
- Following health & safety protocols - no shortcuts, ever
- A NZ trade qualification in Fitting & Turning (or equivalent)
- Proven mechanical maintenance experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, or agri-processing
- Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Hands-on experience with pumps, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, etc.
- The ability to work well under pressure and keep calm when breakdowns happen
- A strong commitment to health and safety and the people you work alongside
- Patience, professionalism, and genuine team-player attitude (non-negotiable)
