We won an ASB Award, which gave us the incredible prize of naming rights to Eden Park for a week! In fact, you'll still see our signage in the eatery area at Eden Park today. We also have a truly unique "Cooking Your Own Catch" service, where we expertly prepare freshly caught fish for locals and tourists alike.Last year, we cooked over 1,483 kg of fish and 966 crayfish for our customers.
We are a high-volume business, especially during our busy summer season (December 26th to January 15th), where we handle up to 500 fish and chips orders a day. While our work is fast-paced, we invest in our team and our systems to make it an efficient and rewarding environment.
The Role - This is a full-time, permanent position with an immediate start. In the off-season, you will work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with the possibility of working up to 50 hours per week during the peak season.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and cook food such as fish and chips and hamburgers.
- Wash, cut, measure, and mix ingredients.
- Operate kitchen equipment like grills, microwaves, and deep-fat fryers.
- Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements.
- Ensure the quality of all food items.
- Portion and present food on plates with gravies, sauces, and garnishes.
- Store food correctly in temperature-controlled facilities.
- May plan menus and estimate food requirements.
- May train other kitchen staff and apprentices.
What We Are Looking For
NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualifications (ANZSCO Skill Level 4) or at least two years of relevant experience as a cook in a busy kitchen.- You are reliable, punctual, and well-presented.
- You work well under pressure and in a team environment.
- You are a good communicator with solid time management skills.
- NZ resident or applicable Visa
- A starting hourly rate of $25.00 to $26.50.
