Mō te tūnga | About the roleWe are looking for a Women's Practice Leader
  • Custodial to be based at Arohata Prison.

In this influential role, you'll work alongside frontline custodial staff and their leaders to enhance professional practice capabilities.

This position emphasises fostering evidence-based practices, promoting a culture of reflection and continuous improvement, and adhering to legislative and Prison Operations Manual standards.

Your approach will be collaborative, mana-enhancing, and aligned with Ara Poutama Aotearoa's values.Your key responsibilities will include facilitating regular and well-structured reflective practice sessions, both in groups and one-on-one, to encourage staff to think about their role's requirements and responsibilities.

Practice Leaders integrate trauma-informed, gender-inclusive, and culturally responsive principles in all staff interactions, ensuring that these key aspects are woven throughout the practice.Additionally, you will maintain a high level of knowledge about the Department's strategic direction, including initiatives like Hōkai Rangi and the Women's Strategy.

You will work closely with site leaders, identifying and responding to the developmental needs of staff, contributing to practice-focused discussions and ensuring a holistic approach to staff support.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experienceSubmit your application online and include highlights and examples as to how you meet the below requirements:Minimum 2-3 years of custodial experience, ideally in a women's prison, with strong operational knowledge and professional credibility.Advanced interpersonal skills, with the ability to work flexibly and effectively with staff, managers, peers, and people in prison in a way that promotes reflection and growth.Proven facilitation skills and the ability to translate theory into practice and provide constructive feedback.Demonstrated skills in planning and organising, along with a strategic mindset and the ability to see the big picture.Leadership qualities that inspire others, build capability, and promote a growth mindset.

Ngā painga | The benefitsThe midpoint of the salary range is $87,132 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $74,063
  • $104,559 per annum.
Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
