Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleAs a Technical Specialist of Immunohistochemistry, you will have the opportunity to work in a busy lab environment with a focus on providing a panel of over 160+ antibodies and maintain the highest standard of staining quality for our clinical team.The role will involve but won’t be limited to;Routine operation and maintenance of IHC equipmentAntibody validation, verification and quality controlTraining and supervision of students and other staffEQA and quality improvement initiativesTroubleshooting and regular engagement with PathologistsAbout the Team/Service/ LocationThe Histology department is situated on-site at the Middlemore campus and provides a Histology and Non–Gynaecological Cytology Service for Health NZ Counties Manukau District.
The Histology department is involved in teaching scientific / technical and medical staff.The position is full time (1.0 FTE) and you will be required to work collaboratively across all areas of the department alongside a dedicated team of Technicians, Scientists, Consultant and Registrar Pathologists, Administration and Management staff to deliver a high-quality Histology service.For more information on living and working in beautiful South Auckland, click hereAbout youEssential attributes:At least 3 years’ experience in Immunohistochemistry within a Histology laboratory setting preferably using the Leica Bond IHC system.Current registration and APC as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council.Experience and competency in all areas of the Histology laboratory.Excellent communication skills and a positive work ethic.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a busy team environment with experience in supervising/training other staff.Ability to prioritise work, adapt and learn quickly with s strong focus on health and safety.Good understanding of ISO15189 standards and a commitment to quality improvement principles.
