Position Overview:We need a high performing accountant to join our team. You will play an important role in ensuring ongoing accounting and tax compliance work is completed correctly and promptly, while nurturing client relationships in a way that makes them wish they had reason to talk to us more often.
What sets this role apart is the extreme flexibility it offers. As long as you work your hours, you have a lot of scope to determine when and where they’re worked. We don’t need detailed timesheets on most jobs – they’re a bit of a waste of time.
About You: Essential Criteria (Yes, genuinely essential; don’t apply if you don’t have these)
- Physically resident in New Zealand
- Have an interest in property investment, sales, and/or development. We don’t want anyone who thinks investors are evil
- Senior level public practice accounting experience – processing work to a very high level that makes your manager’s review easy, and hopefully a bit of exposure to reviewing simple work yourself
- Enjoy the freedom of setting your own work hours. This requires strong self-motivation; there’s no micromanaging, but the work still needs to get done.
- Love working from home, and won’t get too lonely without the usual office noise and distractions.
- Experience using Xero and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
- Qualification in Accounting (Bachelors Degree or equivalent)
- Experience in the property sector (landlord, real estate agent, etc)
- Mastery of Xero (conducting client trainings, etc)
- CAANZ Membership (Full or Provisional)
- Expert tax knowledge
- Physically located near Lake Taupo
