About the RoleWe are looking for a passionate Neonatologist to work in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which has a total of 41 cots, 17 level three (intensive care) cots, 12 level two (intermediate care) and 12 level one (low acuity).

The NICU at Waikato Hospital looks after approximately 1000 inpatients annually including 160 babies born at or below 32 weeks gestation.Key Responsibilities:Provide clinical care for neonates, including NICU inpatients, outpatient follow-up, consultations for neonatal patients on the maternity ward and for women expecting high-risk births, and participate in the on-call roster.Supervise junior medical staff and Advanced Trainees and liaise with referring practitioners to ensure continuity of care.Participate in unit research activities, administrative duties, and departmental tasks as required.Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as requested by the Head of Department.

About YouApplicants will hold FRACP (Neonatal/Perinatal or equivalent) and hold or be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Specialist in Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine. In addition, you will bring:Demonstrated clinical experience managing newborns with surgical and cardiac conditions.Demonstrated provision of excellent, family centred clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team.Demonstrated participation in review and improvement activities and demonstrated ability to lead and implement education and training for medical and nursing staff.

Clinical specialities include Womens and Children Services, Cardiology / Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oncology and Haematology, Surgical services, and Mental Health and Addiction. Waikato Hospital is the Midland regional referral centre for multiple specialties including neonatology, trauma surgery, oncology, and neurology.
