A Rare Professional Career Opportunity: We are hiring a Landscaping Foreman

And before you apply… please read this carefully.

One of our top Foremen - who has been with Groundcover Landscaping for 8 years - is heading overseas to further his career. We’re incredibly proud of him, but it does leave some very big boots to fill.

This is a key on-site, on the tools, leadership role within our business.
  • This is not an entry-level role.
  • It’s not a “step up and see how you go” position.
  • And it’s not for someone who’s still figuring out if landscaping is for them.

We’re looking for an experienced Landscaping Foreman with a minimum of 2 years’ proven experience as a Leading Hand or Foreman, confidently managing staff and running projects from start to finish.

We specialise in high-end residential landscaping across the Waikato. Our clients expect professionalism, quality workmanship, and strong communication. So do we.

Non-Negotiables:
  • A hardworking, reliable, can-do attitude
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Leading Hand or Foreman
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team on-site
  • Strong understanding of landscape construction processes
  • Ability to read and interpret plans accurately
  • High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Strong communication skills (clients, suppliers and crew)
  • Full, clean NZ driver’s licence
  • The right to work in New Zealand
What you’ll be responsible for:
  • Running projects from start to finish
  • Managing timelines, materials and site coordination
  • Maintaining site safety and quality standards
  • Leading by example and setting the tone on-site
  • Representing our company professionally at all times
What you’ll get:
  • A respected leadership role in a well-established company (20+ years in business)
  • High-quality projects you can be proud of
  • A supportive, systems-driven environment
  • Full support from a dedicated Project Manager
  • A team that values standards, accountability and doing things properly
  • Long-term career stability
  • A company that genuinely cares about their staff
  • A company vehicle, uniform and boots
  • A paid day off for your birthday
  • Health Now - Health benefit plan
  • Career development and monthly one to ones
  • A tool allowance scheme
  • We take hiring seriously
  • We won’t rush this process
  • We will wait for the right person

If you meet the leadership experience requirements and are ready to step into a role where your standards matter - we’d genuinely like to hear from you.

Please note that you will need to provide relevant employment references and be prepared to complete a drug & alcohol test, police vetting, and a half-day on-site assessment. This assessment is part of the recruitment process and is not a paid work trial.

Apply now with your CV and a brief outline of your landscaping and leadership experience.

If you don’t yet have leadership experience, this one isn’t for you - but keep building your skills and watch this space.
