This could be the most interesting role in Council — and it definitely has the most variety. Our Customer Services Team supports residents with enquiries covering all aspects of Council services. No two days are the same, and every interaction is an opportunity to make someone’s day easier.
As a Customer Services Officer (Casual), you’ll be the first point of contact for our community, handling enquiries in person and via phone, email, online and social media. The role will be primarily based at our Rangiora and Kaiapoi service centres, with the potential for shifts in Oxford too.

What you’ll bring - we’re looking for someone who is: Customer-Focused
You have at least 12 months of contact centre or strong customer service experience.
Tech-SavvyConfident with Microsoft Office and quick to learn new systems.
An Excellent CommunicatorClear, calm, and professional — both in writing and in person.
Organised & AdaptableAble to manage multiple tasks and stay steady in a fast-paced environment.
A Team PlayerPositive, collaborative, and someone who enjoys helping others succeed.

This is a true casual role and there are no minimum guaranteed hours. While many shifts are booked in advance there are times we need someone available at short notice to cover staff illness and peak workloads.
