There is also the opportunity to fulfil CICMechocardiography training requirements.
Paediatric case numbers fulfil the criteria for CICM Paediatric ICUTraining.There is an active research department with Specialists able to guideprogression through audit and quality or research requirements if required.In addition to the experiences above we provide an active specialist lededucation programme with protected teaching time to enable participation.
The efforts of the educational enthusiasts amongstthe SMO receives regular positive feedback from the participants.You will also have the opportunity to educateyour peers as well as the Otago University Trainee Intern Medical Students thatrotate through the unit.Our new Intensive Care facility opened in 2021, meaning there has neverbeen a better time to consider a career with Waitaha Canterbury.
Critical careexperience awaits you, encompassing the spectrum of tertiary care for adultsand selected paediatric specialties in the South Island of New Zealand.Participate and gain a breadth of experience across critical care.Wecare for patients requiring Intensive Care all specialties includingCardiothoracic and Neurosurgical.
Christchurch Hospital also provides regionalcare for trauma, burns, paediatric oncology, paediatric surgery, South Islandneurosurgery, interventional radiology.
In addition, we are one of two SpinalInjury units for New Zealand and likewise one of two hyperbaric units for NewZealand.
We can also provide an anaesthesia rotation progressing from SHO toRegistrar covering 12 months for Intensive Care Trainees requiring completionof their anaesthesia training.In addition to working on ICU there is the opportunity to participate ina busy road, rotary and fixed wing inter hospital retrieval service coveringcommonly the South Island (including the Chatham Islands) but with a reach forsubspecialty transfers into the North Island as far north as Auckland.Christchurch's Intensive Care adopted the care for deteriorating patientsearly in the evolution of rapid response systems and has a dedicated nurse anddoctor deteriorating patient response team 24 hours a day.About youPGY4+ with experience in Critical Care.Airway management experience is desirable.Knowledge and commitment of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how the principles can be applied to health.A willingness to grow and further develop an equity lens and skillset, both to assist Māori and minority groups.
