About the role

We're looking for a proactive and experienced Team Leader – Building Compliance to lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering critical functions under the Building Act 2004. From building warrants of fitness to building related investigations, your role will be central to ensuring safety and compliance across our built environment.

You will:

  • Leading a skilled team to deliver consistent, high-quality building compliance services.
  • Overseeing key functions including building warrant of fitness, certificates of public use, pool barriers, and certificates of acceptance.
  • Developing and refining best practice processes for complaint response, compliance resolution, enforcement, and cost recovery.
  • Supporting and managing investigations and inspections through to clear, well-documented outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure integrated and consistent compliance management.
  • Providing technical guidance and coaching to staff while managing workloads, performance, and professional development.

About you

You'll be a confident leader with strong technical knowledge of building compliance? You'll thrive on solving complex problems, and guiding team members.

You'll need to show us that you have:

  • significant experience of working in building compliance or a similar field
  • strong working knowledge of the Building Act 2004 and related legislation and regulations
  • strong investigation and report writing skills, with experience in preparing enforcement documentation for legal proceedings
  • proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and develop a high-functioning team.
  • A practical approach to managing compliance issues and delivering fair, efficient, and enforceable outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer and community focus.
  • Sound judgement with the ability to identify and manage political and reputational risks.
