The Custom Space is a leader in high-quality custom kitchens and bespoke joinery in Nelson. Our in-house spray shop, The Custom Finish, specializes in premium spray-finishing for both our own projects and other joiners across the region.

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Spray Painter to take charge of the daily operations of our spray shop. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase your expertise, manage workflows, and contribute to delivering outstanding finishes.

• Coordinate work schedules with internal teams and external clients.
• Prepare surfaces for spraying, including sanding, masking, and priming.
• Mix and apply paints, lacquers, and finishes to joinery
• Operate spray guns and other equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure high-quality, consistent finishes on all projects.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
• Oversee job costing, administration, and stock control.
• Manage booth and equipment maintenance.
• Take ownership of all aspects of running a busy spray shop.

• Experience in spray painting (cabinetry, furniture, or joinery preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering top-quality finishes.
• Knowledge of different coatings, paints, and application techniques.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Familiarity with health and safety procedures in a spray shop environment.
• Trade qualification is desirable but not essential.

• Full-time role: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday).
